When do you speak out about injustice and evil practices? I asked myself, looking back on my involvement with SRM. I see three aspects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Ignorance, I didn't know anything about it before until someone told me about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Reliability, I first wanted to investigate whether what I heard was true (or could be) and whether the people who told about it were reliable. It seemed too bizarre to be true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Justice, I was touched by what I saw and by the fact that the testimony of victims of SRM is hardly taken seriously. I want to commit myself to be a voice for those who have no voice (Proverbs 31:8 and 9).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am glad that I am not alone in this. I meet more and more Christians who are standing up. And to my surprise (and shame), several non-Christians have risen up out of compassion earlier and stronger than me; together we want to be brave and empowered. We go for light of recognition for the victims of the very dark practices and light of justice for the injustice. Survivors testify that without Jesus, the Light of the world, they cannot achieve deep liberation and wholeness. And I see how this healing takes place, step by step; courageously and with the help of God and people. I want to be there for them until there is honest room for them to tell their experiences.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
